Resume:
Ippo Makunouchi is a young and shy high school student of 16 years who has no friends because he spends all his free time helping his mother, who raises him alone, in the family business of fishing boat rentals. He is currently the victim of brutality and humiliation by a gang of thugs led by Umezawa, one of his classmates. One day, a professional boxer witnessed the scene, Mamoru Takamura, saves him from his tormentors and takes Ippo wounded to the Kamogawa boxing club, held by retired boxer Genji Kamogawa, to cure him.
Once Ippo woke up, Takamura tries to cheer him up by persuading him to let off a sandbag, an experience that reveals a great punching power and an innate talent for boxing. Discovering a passion for this sport and driven by the desire to become strong, the young Ippo decides to become a professional boxer and begins his training within the club to the highest levels.
